Words and music by Keith Green
My son, My son, why are you striving?
You can't add one thing to what's been done for you
I did it all while I was dying
Rest in your faith, my peace will come to you.
For when I hear the praises start I want to rain upon you.
Blessings that will fill your heart
I see no stain upon you
Because you are my child and you know me
To Me you're only holy
Nothing that you've done remains
Only what you do for Me
My child, My child, why are you weeping?
You will not have to wait forever
That day and that hour is in My keeping
The day I'll bring you into Heaven
For when I hear the praises startMy child
I want to rain upon you
Blessing that will fill your heart
I see no stain upon you
Because you are My child and you know me
To me you're only holy
Nothing that you've done remains Only what you do in Me
My precious bride, the day is nearing
When I'll take you in My arms and hold you
I know there are so many things that you've been hearing
But you just hold on to what I have told you
For when I hear the praises start
My bride, I want to rain upon you
Blessings that will fill your heart
I see no stain upon you
Because you are My child, and you know Me
To me you're only holy
Nothing that you've done will remain
Only what you do for me

good one uncle joe
Keith Green died so young and unexpectedly.
Thanks for posting some of his lyrics.
I am so glad God sees the covering of Jesus when he looks at me.
Keith Green was a gift.....and his music still touches us today.
We should all have a 10th of his fire and passion
Great lyrics.
Yep, a great talent and totally sold out, Keith was.
Do you by chance remember Larry Norman, who some consider to be the first Contemporary Christian singer?
Yeah I remember Larry Norman. I didn't really know he was around until 1972 when we sang I Wish
We'd All Been Ready at vacation bible school. that's a song that will make you think.
I wish I could have gotten some of his albums back then but we were so broke as a family that all my parents could afford was a lot of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens etc. !!!!
I have alot of Larry's stuff if you want to hear it.
Beautiful, Unca Joe.
pulling out the songsbooks again?
Good stuff...oh, such good stuff. Is this were I rub it in again that I saw him in concert?
I remember another sudden loss in the world of Christian music:
Rich Mullins death in a car accident.
Happy and Blessed Easter to Joe and the Jos.
Wishing you and yours a Happy Easter/Resurrection Day and may you know Him in the power of His Resurrection!
I had no idea who Keith Green was until I met Joe, but Rich Mullin's death hit us hard, especially Joe. We went to see him in concert and it is without a doubt my favorite concert ever. He was an inspiration
I love Keith Green too. I don't know that I have heard this one, tho. It has been a while.
good heavens above. when are you updating this. for petes sake. for pity's sake. oh, my stars and stripes forever. update this.
well stub my toe, alright you bossy hiney, I'll update this. just hold your horses, woah nelly!
I love Keith Green!
KG's music has influenced me more than anything else on the planet almost. I have listened to him for so long. He has also influenced me as a musician, to be very honest and real in my lyrics. Actually, I'd be honored if you'd check out my music on my site. Its very, "Keithish."
Thanks for posting,
-Sean
