Croon: 15th Century Middle Dutch Party Time!

You probably know from AJ's post that tonight is the much anticipated Michael Buble concert. Quite a few months ago in a successful ongoing plan to reignite the flames of marriage we decided to take a dance class. I was already a fan of big band music and played Sinatra around the house from time to time. Let me say that I have enjoyed dancing with my wife and kids and I will continue to do so as long as I'm able.

We evidently borrowed this word croon from "Middle Dutch". Guess the French word wasn't cool enough for Americans to use. Chanteur is deninitely not macho enouch. Think what Frank Sinatra would have done if a critic had called him a "chanteuse".

Though I did find this word: chan·ti·cleer

Defined as a male domestic fowl: a rooster, especially in fairy tales ( literary )

Now there's a move vivid description of Frank!

croon
croon [ kroon ]

Definitions:

1. sing or murmur gently: to sing or murmur something in a soft low voice, especially to yourself or to a sleepy child
2. sing sentimentally: to perform a song or songs in a smooth sentimental style
noun (plural croons)
Definitions:

gentle singing: singing in a soft low voice, or something sung in this way
[15th century. < Middle Dutch krōnen "to lament"]

My murmuring has never put anybody to sleep. I generally use it as a prelude for a fistfight.

AJ will surely post tomorrow, same Buble time same Buble channel!

The kids & I used to watch an animated movie that starred a rooster named Chanticleer. I can't remember the name of the flick, although I watched it with my little ones MANY times.

Enjoy the concert!!! My daughter's fav singer is Frank Sinatra. She plays his music when she gets ready in the morning. She also plays some of Buble's music too. Great stuff!!

Sing this to AJ: By the light of the silvery moon, I want to spoon with my honey I'll croooon love's tune...
